Prêt à quitter Acqui Terme. J’ai pris avec moi tous les documents dont j’avais besoin. Depuis mon refuge, je me promets d’explorer toutes les composantes du site en série proposé pour l’UNESCO. Quatre d’entre eux sont liés à des terroirs de référence et semblent bien placés sur le plan mondial : « La Langa del Barolo », « Le colline del Barbaresco », « Nizza Monferrato e il Barbera » et « Canelli e l’Asti spumante ». Ceux-là je les connais, sinon directement, du moins de réputation. Viennent les originalités : « Il Monferrato degli infernot » sur lequel j’ai plaisanté hier avec Valery et « Il Castello di Grinziane Cavour » où je rêve aux aventures de Camillo Benso Comte de Cavour. Trop tôt pour les enchères de la truffe blanche, mais un moment parfait pour mieux connaître l’oenothèque régionale piémontaise. Il faudra de toute manière que je revienne en novembre avec sans doute la possibilité de rencontrer virtuellement ce premier Premier Ministre d’une Italie réunifiée.
I’m ready to move on from Acqui Terme. I have taken all the documents I need with me. Since I came, I have promised myself I would explore all the components of the series of sites proposed for UNESCO. Four of them are connected to rural regions of note, and seem well placed on the world stage: La Langa del Barolo, Le colline del Barbaresco, Nizza Montferrato e il Barbera and Canelli e l’Asti spumante. These I know, if not directly then by reputation. Then come the new ones: Il Monteferrato degli infernot, about which I joked around with Valery yesterday and Il Castello di Grinziane Cavour, where I am dreaming of the adventures of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour. It is too soon for the white truffle auctions, but a perfect moment to get to know better the Piedmont regional wine oenoteca. I must, in any case, return in November, no doubt with the possibility of meeting virtually this first Prime minister of a reunified Italy.
